Alicia Villamarin Obtained her Master in Oriental Medicine and a Bachelor in Health Sciences at ATOM –Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine- (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida).

Dr. Villamarin graduated from the University of Seville in her native Spain, Suma Cum Laude, with a Bachelor Degree in Biology. She then moved to New York City where she obtained her Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology at New York University Medical Center, the Sackler Institute. Her work focused on basic cancer research and cell cycle proteins.

In 1996 Dr. Villamarin and her family moved to South Florida. Her postgraduate work inspired a deep thirst for knowledge and provided a solid scientific foundation. While this would prove invaluable, she soon realized that her calling was in healing rather than research. She soon became captivated with Chinese Medicine and completed studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine. After graduating, she opened her private practice – Full Moon Acupuncture and Healing Arts center.

Always in search of knowledge that would help her patients attain health and balance, Dr. Villamarin continued her studies in several other modalities that beautifully merged and complemented Oriental Medicine. She studied Homotoxicology with several international teachers, obtained a Certification in Clinical Homeopathy with CEDH, was also certified as Acutonics Practitioner  and now she is part of the Acutonics Institute of Integrative Medicine as a Senior Teacher. She is also a Senior NESV Practitioner and Teacher. Her studies continued in energy medicine with Pranic healing and Masters in Usui and Kuruna Reiki. She has a Master in Clinical Hypnotherapy and completed a professional training in Past Life Regression Therapy with Dr. Brian Weiss.

Dr. Villamarin always felt compelled to merge and integrate East and West, science and technology, with philosophy and spirituality. With her background and continuous search for knowledge, she is able to bridge the gap and bring forth the valuable traditions often lost in modern medicine. Her deep caring style and ability to listen and spend time with patients are but a few of her many qualities.

In 2014 Dr. Villamarin and her colleague Maria Romero A.P. founded the non-for-profit 501(c)3 organization “The Wu Project” www.thewuproject.org . Their mission is to bring an effective training in barefoot acupuncture and natural medicine to remote rural regions all over the world. Her team goes where nobody goes bringing education and effective healing tools to the rural communities. Since the establishment of the NGO, The Wu Project team has traveled and trained health promoters in Nepal, Mexico (Chiapas), Guatemala (K’iche and Xela) and Bolivia (Chiquitania) and provided continuous support for the students and their communities.

Teaching being one of her passions, Dr. Villamarin gives lectures and workshops in integrative medicine-related subjects, and travels extensively to teach Acutonics in the United States and internationally in Spanish speaking countries.
